Comments to album Golem - Orion Awakes
I have sources from a musician that he confirms he played on this record wich was recorded back in 1995 in Croydon near London.
And who is that? Hearsay is no use as any evidence unless it is backed up with facts.
Listening to this in the cold light of day it certainly sounds like a '90s recording to me. Everything about it sounds a bit too studied. The wah wah, the relatively clean production, the drum sound. I quite like it.... but it sounds too good to be true to me. By tracks 4 and 5 the album goes completely off the boil for me... descending into very simplistic riffing and quite tedious.Add to the fact that nobody has ever seen a copy of these Pyramid releases (all right - someone thought they saw one once) and not one has ever been offered for sale. Even rare garage punk records from the 60s where there's ONE known copy have been documented... but out of these six Pyramid releases not one has ever been seen. It stretches credulity somewhat.Pretty good sounds anyway, a bit like Hawkwind crossed with Cosmic Jokers or sth.
Myself, I like all of the Pyramid releases (no matter what their history). The Golem LP is my favorite. I'm curious if anyone has actually seen (or owns) any of the Pyramid records? It's a wonderful story, if it's true, but the lack of any photos or actual records has always seemed a bit questionable.
